Ladies, especially, want to blame attitudes on the heat. Or attitudes are due to cramps; talkin’ about “I’m on my period,” etc. etc. Well, let’s be honest it ain’t the heat or the cramps. It’s because your “baby mama” or “baby daddy” or even your momma or your daddy “got on yo’ nerves.” And if it’s your children that are gettin’ on your nerves, get over it, YOU are the reason that they exist. So, does that mean that you should have a triflin’ attitude for the rest of the day? *cricket cricket* NO!
See, your attitude is EVERYTHING. It speaks volumes about your life…it is a reflection of your life. Your attitude is the difference between a good day and a bad day, so ‘why let someone choose your attitude for you?’ Albert Einstein, believe it or not, said it best when he told the world, “Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.” CHARACTER…and there is a difference between CHARACTER and PERSONALITY.
So, now, I say, let us try not to let one person, activity, event…one occurrence in the day determine our attitude for the day. It is a chain of events and before you know it, you have this nasty, triflin’, negative attitude daily – AND that becomes who you are- that becomes your Character. Trust me, your personality only holds up for so long before people see through you, before they see your character. Let me say, soon no one will want to be around you-except the people that are similar to you- negative, triflin’ attitude people.
So when you spill your coffee, or your child is crying, or someone cuts you off in traffic and you’ feel like you need to be in a hurry, or maybe your coworker is getting on your nerves because they are having an off day, whatever the situation HAVE AND KEEP A POSITIVE attitude. Walk away from the situation and take 5 deep breaths then return to the task at hand, turn up the radio (or go in the staff lounge or restroom) and sing your favorite song, (drop to your knees) say a prayer for patience and strength, like do what you have to do – but BE POSITIVE. It is nothing worse than a triflin’ attitude – ask around. What friend, man, or woman do you think you’ll get be rude and negative. It simply is annoying.
Think about it, when you’re at work and someone comes up to you complaining about “this assignment they boss gave them to do and they also have to make this phone call, and this customer just asked the dumbest question, and they ready to go to lunch cause they hungry, and they tried and they feet hurt and they ask you to do this and Mary Jane to help them with that and they need a break, this customer wants a product from the back and someone called to see if they have something in stock…..” really, you strongly dislike that coworker, right? Right. No one wants to be around an always unhappy person, that just mopes and argues, complains, bickers and just can’t be satisfied or content.
Or even for those that club it out. Do you want to walk up and befriend or “talk to” that male or female that is outside shouting’ on the phone about how they just saw they ex in the club, and “this trick was grindin’ on him” and “I’m bouta whoop her if she don’t get off my man.” Or “Hey man, you just stepped on my J’s” and “What it is? You was running it on Facebook?” This stuff, it isn’t attractive, honestly!
So, lets get real, don’t blame it on the heat, or the period cramps (And yes, men have periods to!) There are no excuses! Cause honestly, people have the worst attitudes in the winter months! When you feel that negativity coming – reverse it. Think positive and you’ll be positive! And believe me, a good, healthy, positive attitude, WILL get you far! If you have to use the Carl Winslow (family matters season 4, episode 4), “321, 123, What the heck is bothering me?” Recite that a few times! lol. It works! All in all be positive, be happy, be blessed; keep a positive attitude and you’ll have a positive character!
