This is the 5th shot from our 50 Shades Project. Jae has me falling deeper in love with creating Black & White shots. I love the balance between light and shadows. I find that the light is nothing without stratigically placed shadows!
I believe that when you look at this image your eyes will be drawn to the areas with the most contrast. As a matter of fact I know exactly where your eyes went when you first look at this image and they didn’t focus there by chance or accident. It was by artistic design! Light and shadows can be powerful!
I only used one speed light in this shot and it was place at Jae’s eye level on camera right. I worked very hard to make sure that the shot retained the detail though out the entire image, from the walls to the drapes, to her lace mask and bra, to her bangles and pearls. I really love this series of images because they caused me to grow. My goal is to master balancing light and shadows. I think this series is a step in the right direction.
As I said before, I know you’re not supposed to express your passion about your own work, but doggone it, I love it! Jae is a wonder and she always inspires me to want to push the boundaries of good work. I truly believe that good is the enemy of great! We dare to be great!
Show Jae some love by sharing your thoughts regarding her work in the comment area. She produced and directed this entire series. Thank for stopping by.
