I shoot on location a lot, I always have. This is a new photo from my Pinup Project that I shot on location in Louisville, KY back in December. It was very cold and it was raining. But I didn’t have many indoor option because I don’t have a studio in Louisville yet. But that isn’t a totally bad thing. One reason that not having a studio in Louisville yet isn’t so bad is that I don’t have the cost that’s associated with running (or renting) a space there. The second reason is that it forces me to be more creative and I tend to get better images and stronger, more inspiring models when I shoot on location.
I think that’s because it takes a special kind of person to trek out into the woods, or onto the ice, or out into the rain to create images. Not all models are willing to do that to be photographed. As a matter of fact, I’m not all that thrilled about it either, but God creates so many different environments for us, it’s hard to get bored shooting on location.
In this case Teresa Reid was our model and muse for this winter pinup project. Teresa showed up on set with a huge bag of clothes and shoes. She and Carla put the looks together and made sure that her hair and makeup was on point. This shoot was a quick and dirty one because I was in town to visit with my mom for her birthday and for Christmas so my focus was on being home with my mom. But I hate to go to Louisville and not shoot with my exceptional people there.
So I called Teresa at the last-minute and she dropped everything and met Carla and me out under a bridge on Baxter Avenue and we shot, and shot some more, until we started losing the light and had to call it a night. We had a great time and made some very nice images.
Here is the 1st from that series of pinups. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by!!!
